A stonking success enabling active travel

What a phenomenal success the bike hanger scheme in Bath has been. Of the 76 spaces available 72 are now occupied- 95% occupancy. If you want one of the last 4, go here.

It is interesting to reflect that after the initial surge there has also been a slow and steady snapping up of the remaining places. To me that shows not just the pent up demand of people previously storing bikes in inconvenient places, but also people ‘buying in’ to active travel once they see there is safe convenient storage.

We do need to look at ‘non standard’ bikes: cargo bikes, trikes, hand bikes, bikes with child seats and so on, to ensure we are catering for all regardless of age and ability.

But let’s not forget what a leap forward this has been. ‘Designing a better poster’ does NOTHING. Enabling people with new infrastructure- that changes everything.

More please 😀
