A Police Officer’s view on achieving zero deaths and injuries on the road.

Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Cox has been a fantastic advocate for measures to reduce road violence. In its most extreme form, people quite intentionally use their vehicles as weapons to attack other people. Perhaps more alarmingly, many collisions are not where there was clear intension, but where people were driving illegally fast, carelessly/dangerously or so completely distracted by their phones/infotainment that none of their brain capacity was being used on the actual operation of the machine they are in.

One area he highlight is the value of providing evidence to the Police who can decide if offences have been committed. This can come from dash cams, bike cams or even pedestrians using their mobile phones to record incidents. There has been some success with this approach locally and WRB will blog about it in the near future.
