At WalkRideBath we often emphasise the difference between encouraging active travel (painted bicycles on roads) and enabling active travel (removing barriers from footpaths, secure covered storage for bikes etc…). That is why we’re so excited to see the first Bike ‘hangers’ on Bath’s streets, 75% of the 24 spaces sold out at the time of writing. Get in there quick!

So it was very disappointing to see 72 secure, covered spaces locked out of use at the Spring Wharf development this weekend (January 7th). The only ‘D’ lock in use here is to secure the gates from cyclists. We are very open minded about travel modes at WRB, but we are not convinced shopping trollies count- students feel free to contact us if you disagree.

Sort this out Spring Wharf! It would not be tolerated for other vehicle storage and may even be a breach of planning. I wonder what one of your anchor tenants would have to say..
